I’ve been using Google AdWords for several months now and I have to say the whole setup really is a work of genius on Google’s part. Its seemingly endless pages of charts, tables and numbers appeal to the geeks; the need for lexical simplicity and brevity appeals to the creatives; and the stats and feedback appeal to the analysts and bean counters. In creating a complex, infinitely configurable advertising tool that has many of the hallmarks of a strategy game, Google have pulled off a masterstroke.

In fact, so easy is it to get lost in the world of AdWords that you can quickly forget that it is essentially a business tool, and one that costs money – lots of money if you’re not careful. So based on my experience of the last few months, here are some essential tips for getting the most of out of Google AdWords.

1. Be Creative

The toughest stage of AdWords is one of the first – writing your ad. You have 95 characters (25-word title and two 35-word lines) to not only get your message across, but also to differentiate that message from your competitors’ ads. Throw Google’s strict policies on truth and honesty into the equation, and you have a real challenge on your hands, particularly if you don’t have a resident creative genius to call on!

However, with a little planning and research it shouldn’t be too difficult to come up with an attractive ad. Decide on what your real message is and keep it simple. Do a search using the keywords you want to use and look at your competitors’ ads. Think about your target audience and the language that will attract them. And finally, and this may sound a bit wacky, try reading and then writing a few haiku, the traditional Japanese poetic form in which writers have a mere 17 syllables to express themselves – it will help you trim the fat from your writing and concentrate on the meat.

2. Be relevant

Putting your keywords into your ad text is more likely to generate clicks. Why? Because searchers can see that your ad is relevant to their search. If I search for ‘tom waits tickets’, I will only click on those results that contain this search phrase and will consider results without this phrase to be irrelevant.

3. Think about your landing page

When you’re happy with the content of your ad, think about where it will take the user. Don’t just direct them to your homepage and expect them to find their own way to what they want – take them straight there. If I click on my ‘tom waits tickets’ ad and am taken to a generic homepage on which my chosen topic isn’t immediately visible, I’ll go elsewhere.

Also, make sure the content of the landing page matches the content of the ad. Your keywords should feature in the text, and also as metatags, to improve your quality score and your overall search ranking. If the content of your landing page doesn’t match the content of your ad, users will feel misled.

You should also ensure that your landing page isn’t a ‘dead end’, i.e. a page that people will look at once and then close or leave. Don’t include external links on the page – make sure users are guided to another page on your site or channeled to your sales, booking or feedback page.

4. Work geographically

When you first set up your Google ad, the temptation is to maximise your web hits by targeting a broad geographical sector. But think again – if you only operate in a particular country or region, there’s no point in your ad appearing to users elsewhere. I set up an ad for a hotel software product which we only sell in Southeast Asia, with a tight budget of $5 per day. Allowing the ad to appear to users outside SE Asia would mean my ad budget being eaten up by people with no interest in my product.

So look at where your target customers are and restrict your ad to those territories, to ensure your money is being spent wisely.

5. Don’t insist on being no.1

AdWords allows you to pay top dollar for your ad to be top of the pile. But is this really what you want? Chances are you’ll get a lot of clicks from indiscriminate, impatient surfers who just click on the top result without reading it first. Serious searchers will read every ad above the fold (i.e. positions 1-5); really serious searchers will read every ad on the page. So spend enough to ensure you’re on the first page, but no more.

6. Test, test, test

This is where your inner strategy game geek comes in. If you’ve played sports sims like the life-consuming Championship Manager, you’ll already know the benefits of testing different team formations, tactics, training routines and so on. And so you’ll probably get the hang of AdWords pretty quickly. Testing different keywords, ad copy, landing pages, landing page copy, ad scheduling, min/max CPC and so on will give you lots of different results and allow you to optimise every ad in every campaign.

One of the first ads I set up was a recruitment ad for our company. It generated a lot of clicks but I discovered that the landing page had a bounce rate (i.e. the number of visitors who visit a page and then leave immediately) of around 85%. I was using a landing page which gave general information about the benefits of working for the company but didn’t contain any actual vacancies. So I switched the landing page to one which simply listed every current vacancy we have, and within days the bounce rate had gone down to 60%!

7. Set goals

Every campaign, be it military, sporting or advertising, must have an ultimate goal by which the campaign’s success can be measured. If you run an e-commerce site then it’s easy to measure the ROI of AdWords, but if, like mine, your site is designed to increase brand awareness and display product information, it’s not so easy. Sure, AdWords will send your traffic sky-high but how do you know you’re getting your money’s worth?

The simple answer is to use Google Analytics’ Goal Conversion function, which allows you to define a specific page you wish people to visit or an action you wish them to complete – submitting a feedback form for example, or downloading a PDF or podcast. You’ll quickly find your conversion rate will become an obsession and lead to constant tweaking, tinkering and testing, all of which will ensure you get maximum return on your AdWords investment.

8. Try CPM ads

If you’re not convinced by CPC, try CPM advertising instead. Rather than set up lots of keywords, instead you choose sites from Google’s content networks on which you wish your ad to appear. If I’m selling bicycles in Bolivia for example, I’ll scour Google for Bolivian cycling and leisure websites and flag these sites in my CPM campaign – this is more secure than blindly using the Google Content Network as it allows me to personally vet each site on which my ad will be displayed.

9. Monitor results

Checking ad performance should, and will, become a daily habit for you once you get started with AdWords. Google’s tracking tools allow you to quickly identify under- or over-performing ads and take remedial action, and using the superb free Google Analytics service allows you to monitor the effect of your AdWords campaigns on your website.

10. CTR isn’t everything!

CTR – or click-through rate – is seen by many AdWords users as the only stat that counts. But don’t get too hung up on it. Remember, the higher the click-through rate, the higher your outlay. Sure, if you’re running an e-commerce site then clicks are your bread & butter, but if your site doesn’t actually sell anything and is designed more with brand awareness in mind, then a high number of above-the-fold impressions combined with a low CTR may be sufficient for you.

I hope you find these ten tips useful in running your own AdWords campaigns – and please let me know if you have any good advice of your own!

Imagine having a large group of ready customers you knew would buy what you had to offer. Well, that is just what a list gives you. Now, not everyone on every list buys everything offered, but a good targeted list will be very responsive to offers. And that translates to good profits. A list is a much more reliable source of sales than relying on people just happening to find your website and buying your products or services.

When visitors land on your squeeze page or website, they read a little about what you have to offer. If it is of interest to them, they gladly give their contact information and join your list. Since they are already interested in your products, they are more likely to buy from you than someone who is just browsing the web.

There are many internet marketers who make a good living from their lists. Most have more than one list since they may have a few different niches. Each list is targeted for a particular niche. They often have a large 'master' list that is more generic with a broader interest, too. They are able to make their living this way by building lists of highly responsive subscribers and cultivating them into loyal customers.

With a list, you have a ready customer base for your products, whether they are your own or products you are an affiliate for. Making good sales becomes as easy as writing a good sales message and clicking the send button. No more constantly trying to drive traffic to your site for one-off sales. You will have your list ready and willing for much more, including up-sales, back-end sales, big ticket sales and more.

Of course, it takes more than just having a list to be successful. It doesn't do any good to build a big list unless you keep your subscribers interested and loyal. Doing both of these things go hand-in-hand. To have an interested, loyal subscriber list means building a relationship of trust with them. You have to have credibility to have this relationship and a reputation that will spread beyond your list, which helps it to grow even more.

As you get opt-ins on your list, you should have an autoresponder set up to send follow up emails. These emails are the start of your relationship building. Don't start right off with sales pitches. Send informative newsletters and offer some free products from time to time. It takes a little time to build trust and work to keep it. Once you have their trust, keep it by only sending offers that are quality. You always want to maintain quality in what you send to your list, even the freebies.

You also want to be sure that you only recommend products you know yourself are good. You can lose trust if you recommend a product you know little or nothing about that turns out to be of low quality. When you promote something to your list, learn enough about it that you become an expert on it, preferably by using it yourself.

Having an easy to find means of unsubscribing also plays into building a good relationship as well as complying with the law. If a subscriber knows that they can leave the list without any problem at any time, they will be less likely to want to.

Ready to build your list and build a good relationship with your subscribers? Good. You are on your way to success.

Do you know what is the most important question among most internet marketers specially newbie's. It's "How to get highly targeted visitors to there site?" Believe me, I know it because I received this question from my subscribers almost daily.

Well, earlier when I started my internet business I also faced this problem. I tried safe-lists, I bought so called guaranteed visitors, even I blast my ad to 10 million (Yes, you are right. It's 10 million) sites but couldn't make a single sale.

Than I changed my strategies and get this problem solved by finding a right solution, and that is "Pay Per Click Advertising". Pay Per Click Advertising is a great solution for traffic worries which directs a highly targeted traffic to my site. Yesterday only I got around 280 visitors and I made 24 sales.

Pay-Per-Click is a simple type of paid advertising that most search engines, including some of the largest ones, now offer. It requires a bid for a "per-click" basis, which translates to your company paying the bid amount every time the search engine directs a visitor to your site. There is the added bonus that when a per-click site sends your website traffic, your site often appears in the results of other prevalent search engines.

As with all marketing campaigns, there are pros and cons. Where there are flowers there are thorns also. what you have to do is to protect yourself from thorns and let only the fragrance touch your inner sense. I am going to tell you advantages the Pay Per Click Advertising.

One of the greatest advantages of PPC is that you never have to tweak your web pages to change your position in search engine results, as you must do in a typical SEO campaign. What you do have to do in a pay-per-click campaign is pay a fee.

Another advantage is the simplicity of the pay-per-click process. You just bid and you're up and running. It doesn't demand any specific technical knowledge, though the more you know about search engines and keywords, the easier - and more effective - the process will be.

Now came the very point in your mind that what is bad about Pay Per Click Advertising. The downside is that PPC is essentially a bidding war. A higher bid than yours will lower your position on search engine results.

This means that you will have to raise your bid to regain your position - which can obviously become quite expensive, especially if you are bidding on a popular keyword.

In order to determine if pay-per-click is a cost effective form of marketing for your business, you must do some computing to figure out how much each visitor to your site is worth.

You can compute this value by dividing the profit you make on your website over a given period of time by the total number of visitors for that same time period.

For example, if your site made $5,000 in profits and there were 10000 hits, each visitor would be theoretically worth 50 cents. The basic formula is profits divided by visitors.

Be aware that the most popular keywords often cost considerably more than 50 cents a click. The only way around this is to bid less for these phrases or you will be paying too much for each individual hit.

Since when you are doing the business for earning money and you are losing a heavy part of it then you must have a plan in place to closely track the effectiveness of your keyword. It is advisable to monitor your keywords on at least a monthly basis.

The only way to assess your success in this field is monitoring, not only monitoring but careful monitoring. You can easily analyze it by visitor behavior which can produce invaluable knowledge about consumer motivation, habits, and trends. Expert monitoring and consumer analysis is essential to your overall business needs, and pay-per-click campaign is a must for this.

While RSS end-user adoption has been relatively slow, marketers have jumped at the chance to use this new internet channel íncrease their online salës.

If you're new to the world of RSS --- RSS is a simple technology that allows you to deliver your online content directly to your subscribers, other websites and the search engines. It helps you improve your content delivery, as well as íncrease your online traffíc and reach, and even conduct business intelligence more easily.

RSS content is delivered through so-called RSS feeds, which are just simple files that carry your online content. Each of these simple files containts multiple "stories" that you may want to deliver to your audiences, called "content items". A content item can be anything … an article, a blog post, a whole newsletter issue, a salës letter and so on.

But there is more to RSS than simply getting your content out.

One of the fields of RSS marketing is also NewsMastering, which allows you to:

[a] take multiple third-party RSS feeds,

[b] mix them together,

[c] filter your new mix using various keywords that you're interested in,

[d] use the mix and your filters to create a new stream of content, pulling together all the content items from dozens or hundreds of other RSS feeds … but only the content items that match your filters.

You can now take this stream of content and either subscribe to it yourself, if for example you want to find out immediately what the market is saying about you, what it's saying about your competitors, and what your competitors are doing themselves.

Or you can take this stream of content and display it on your website to:

[a] enrich the visitor experience, by giving them access to the latest and most relevant líst of content from your field, such as the latest news in the field you are covering … and do so automatically;

[b] by doing so also making your website more search engine friendly, thus increasing your rankings.

But up until now doing all of this was quite complicated and really wasn't accessible to most internet marketers.

But no longer so ...

Yahoo! Pipes Changes The Landscape

Yahoo! Pipes is the latest offering from Yahoo!, finally bringing the premise of NewsMastering to the mass market, and actually putting it on steroids.

The general idea behind Yahoo! Pipes is to allow its users to "easily" connect various internet data sources, mix them together in various ways, add additional functionality to them and create a new single output, pertaining directly to your settings.

While this may sound alot like the standard RSS aggregation and filtering we mentioned above, it actually goes much further than anything on the market in enabling you to manipulate outside sources and come up with a new content output, all of this in a visual programming environment.

The "old services" simply allowed you to combine various RSS feeds, set some basic rules on how you want to get content from them, such as limiting the output to only the content items that match your keywords and removing duplicates, and get a new single RSS feed from them. You could then subscribe to this RSS feed in your RSS Reader (for business intelligence purposes) or use it to display its contents on your website.

But Yahoo! Pipes goes much further.

[BTW - in the Yahoo! Pipes glossary, a pipe is an output you create from mixing and manipulating various content sources]

[a] Aggregate and Filter any XML Feed

Aggregate any kind of XML feed, not just RSS, which means that if your application provides an XML data output, you can now aggregate that data feed with other different feeds you might be interested in, and create a single RSS feed that you can subscribe to in your RSS Reader. Just as an example, imagine having an RSS feed that brings you various data from your organization in a single output, such as the latest salës data from your webstore, latest account of company expenses, notifications of new employees, important team communications, your website visitor counts and so on. It even lets you combine other pipes into a new single pipe.

[b] Content Manipulation

Apply various filters, such as a keyword content filter to give you only the content you're interested in, sort, count, truncate, join or even create your own filters. It even lets you add your own input fields. For example, you could create a pipe that aggregates all the RSS feeds from top online retailers, and include an input field that allows you to enter the name of the product you want the latest deals on, and then creates an on-the-fly output with the latest deals for this product. Essentially, it allows you to add simple or advanced search functionalities to filter out only the content you're really interested in ... from hundreds or even thousands of content sources.

[c] Social Applications

Browse through pipes created by other users to either use them as an end-user, or use their pipes to create your own new pipes. It of course also allows you to make your own pipes public and even provide them as a service to end-users.

There are really almost countless opportunities of what you can do with Yahoo! Pipes, and various new applications will surface when the service gets some milage.

The best part is, you can either create your own application that you use when the need arises from the Web, or an RSS feed that you subscribe to in your RSS Reader, to constantly deliver to you the content that you want. Or you can use the RSS feed to display that content on your website.

All of this is done through a visual interface, which might be daunting for the average user, but shouldn't present a problem to marketers that either have the time to learn the ropes or pay a little something to a person that already has.

How Marketers Will Profít

If you're thinking of how you can profít from Yahoo! Pipes as a marketer, there really are countless opportunities.

[a] Provide highly relevant streams of content on your website to enrich the visitor experience.

[b] Become a preferred access point to relevant and latest content in your industry.

[c] Build applications that allow your visitors to easily access the content they're interested in.

[d] Take your business intelligence activities to the next level. And much much more ...

With all the capabilities available through Yahoo! Pipes, countless new opportunities will certainly arise quickly.

The best part is, you can now more easily take advantage of them.

One of the most serious issues that online marketers face is click fraud. A recent issue of Newsweek (Oct 6, 2006) contains an article on click fraud which has cast some doubt on the many pay per click services that are offered on the Internet today.

Pay-per-click advertising allows marketers to gain website exposure by paying only when someone clicks on their ad or search result. Search engines such as Google let advertisers place bids for placement of paid links or ads. These links will then appear when certain keyword searches are done.

Click fraud is getting to be so pervasive that search engines such as Google have created teams specific to combating click fraud. Since 95 percent of Googles profits are derived from advertising it is important that they keep their customers happy, so Google offers refunds to advertisers when click fraud has been discovered.

Click fraud involving human operators can be much more difficult to detect. This type of fraud involves many people clicking on ads from different computers across the country. This does not provide any type of pattern that can be analyzed. The India Times reported that people are being hired to click paid links from home allowing them to make up to $200 a month.

What an impact click fraud could have in the future on pay for click advertising since it's estimated that up to 15% of all clicks are fake. It's also estimated that up to 500 million dollars of advertising expenses are being wasted due to the click fraud industry.

What should you look for in a "guaranteed click" service?

1. If they claim to be able to send 20,000 hits to your website, then find out where these hits are coming from.

2. Do they allow sites with pop-ups? If they do not then it may be because they are using an automated click system that does not work on sites with pop-ups.

3. Monitor your site to determine if the clicks that you paid for are coming from unique visitors and not from one machine clicking your site 20,000 times.

4. Make sure you know the conversion rate for your site. You should be making one sale per so many clicks.

5. Check the Better Business Bureau for complaints. You can also Google the company you are thinking of buying your clicks from and search for any online complaints.

6. If you think you are being cheated then contact the company and request a refund. If you do not get it, then file a complaint with the BBB or threaten to.

There are three methods of click fraud.

1. The most common method is the use of online software that is programmed to click on links that are found on websites or that may be listed in search engine results.

2. Another method that is becoming more common is to employ low cost workers from third world countries to click on test links and classified ads.

3. One source of fraud can be much closer to home. This happens when company employees click on their rivals ads to deplete they’re marketing budgets and skew their search results. Eventually, such bogus clicks can add up and dry up a competitors budget.

Paying for traffic to your website may seem like a good idea when you are not experiencing much success, but this is when most people become vulnerable to click fraud. You may want to consider these four tips before handing over your credit card.

1. Make sure you take plenty of time to consider and research the credibility of any offers. Sleep on it.

2. Developing traffic to your website takes time and persistence. Traffic can be found in many different ways, and for free or low cost. Quick fixes do not usually work.

3. Get recommendations from reliable sources on what methods work and what does not. Visit marketing forums.

4. Keep in mind that when you come across a sales page for paid for clicks that they are designed to sell you, whether their service really works or not.

Everyone wants to get more traffic to their website whether it is to increase sales, memberships, or subscriptions. Just remember not to be in a hurry to spend your money, and just be a lot more careful.

On Friday, July 15th all Google advertisers got the email message entitled “Google AdWords(TM) Announcement: Keyword Evaluation Changes”. Now, I don’t know about you, but whenever I get a message from Google concerning Adwords, everything else seems to take a backseat.

So we’ve decided to give you a heads up on what you can be expecting in the future, how you can expect these new changes to effect your advertising efforts, and what you should be doing to make sure that you can compete after they’ve been implemented.

First, here is a brief summary of the changes so you understand what exactly is going on:

1.Keywords will simply be active or inactive, instead of Normal, in trial, on hold, disabled.

2.There will be a minimum bid for each of your keywords based on the keyword’s Quality Score which, in turn, will be based on your ad’s click-through rate. The higher-relevant, more targeted, ads will have higher Quality Scores and lower minimum bid amounts. The less-relevant and less-targeted keywords and ads will have higher minimum bids. Now the difference from Google’s old way of doing things is that you can now activate your keywords no matter what. Before, it was up to Google. They would simply place your keywords on hold, and you didn’t have a choice, but try to optimize your ad. Now, you can get that keyword to run, regardless of its quality score…but you’ll have to pay a much higher price per click.

What does all of this mean for the advertiser? Well, it means a few things, and it would be foolish to say that these changes were all good. They are definitely all good for Google, and that is to be expected.

1.Google says that they believe these changes will result in higher-quality ads. Maybe this is true, and maybe it’s not. What is true is that the educated advertisers will save money under the new rules. People that know how to group ads and get higher CTR’s will have to pay less for the same ad rank as those advertisers that do not know such techniques. That’s a good thing for small advertisers who spend time organizing their Adword accounts.

2.But… on the flip side, it also means that big advertisers with big budgets can now come in and write ineffective ads and get good placement. Notice above, we didn’t say that this change was all necessarily good for small advertisers. What is true is that small advertisers will have to become more educated to compete. Big advertisers care about branding. They want to have the number 1 ad slot, and most of the time, they don’t really care what it costs. Now, in the old days, if their ad wasn’t getting clicks, the ad simply wouldn’t get shown (good for the small advertiser). But now, they can just pay more to have their ad shown. This was a good move by Google to get a lot more money in their pocket.

3.Conversion rate becomes the key. If your site converts, you can afford to pay more per click, in turn, you can compete. If your site doesn’t convert, you’ll be eliminated by the big advertisers and/or the smart advertisers. That’s the bottom line. The first step is not getting the traffic to your site like so many teach. But conversely, it’s getting your site in a position to support the clicks.

Here are 3 action steps you can work on to make sure that you will be competing in the Adwords game for some time to come. We realize that each of these steps can be broken down into months of work, but don’t let yourself get caught up in too many details. Just focus on these three things before you start getting too in depth with changing your Adwords accounts around, give each of them a quick rehaul, and make sure you know your numbers.

1.You need to get educated and learn the system. Grouping keywords, writing good ads, keyword selection, it’s all equally important and will play a large role in the future of your Adwords campaign.

2.You’ll also need to get your site converting well enough to support these clicks. Otherwise you’ll lose money very quickly. The formula is [number of sales made / visitors to your site]. On the internet you should realistically be aiming for about 1%.

3.Finally, you need to determine the visitor value of your site. This will tell you how much you can afford to bid on clicks. The formula is [dollars made by your site / visitors to your site]. Plan on bidding about 50% of your site’s visitor value.

Very often big business houses fight about the quality of their products in advertising media. It is a sign of bitter competition and these fights are settled somehow in or out of the court. On the Internet, where detection is difficult due to it being a virtual medium, the competition takes a different pitch. Here the competition is killed by fraudulent means.

Internet has always been a thriving place for fraudsters, for instance, dubious websites pretending to be the legal websites of other businesses or organizations, extracting personal details like credit card data of online users only to siphon off money from their accounts. The reason for such proliferation of fraudsters is the masked protection offered by the medium itself.

In PPC advertising, frauds happen in the form of unknown individuals or groups clicking the advertisement with no intention of buying the services, only to deplete the account of the advertiser. The malicious intention is to kill the competition by depleting the advertisement budget, thereby making the businesses removed from the advertising space. It is estimated that 20% of all clicks are fraudulent.

Just who is involved in these frauds? Sometimes it could be some strange individual clicking at an advertisement for unknown reasons. The reasons could be behavioral anomalies, just like addictive shoplifting, a complete dissatisfaction of the products leading to take such action, etc. The above case would be rare and the effect minimal. The effect would be disastrous when it is organized.

A big business with a huge advertisement budget may organize this crime by hiring people (IndiaTimes, a daily in India, reported about this in an article) or with the help of software, just to click at the advertisements of the competitor in order to remove it from the host site. It could also be the service provider who is doing the same to generate revenues. In any case, the victim is severely drained of the resources without the energy or a way to fight back.

What are the mitigation strategies? The host sites provide unique IP tracking software that would detect multiple clicks from the same IP and therefore not deduct money from the account. At the individual or business level, it is advised to track the budget and if the account is depleted suddenly by a huge amount without any sales being realized, to take up the matter with the host, to get a refund, and to keep mining the log files of the server for the purpose of identifying multiple clicks. When it is not possible for businesses to do it by themselves, specialized services are available who keep track of clicks, report to the websites and get refunds. Software is available that sends a warning message to the IP address from whence the fraudster is working.

This article is about a free website which has a great text analysis tool, that is very useful for anyone in the internet marketing game or who optimizes their website for search engine rankings. The sites address is www.textalyser.net this tool really does the job when it comes to analyzing either all the text on a website or just a certain portion of your choice. Giving you all sorts of great information about the keywords used in the site.

When you first enter the site you can either paste in a certain portion of text into the designated area, or you just type in the URL of the whole website you would like to have analyzed. Then you can choose as to what analysis options you would like to perform. Such as the minimum characters per word, whether you would like it to ignore numbers, and a few more. After you chose your options then you simply click analyze the text, thus returning you a complete very detailed analysis.

At the very top of your analysis it shows some basic text information like the total word count, number of different words used, sentence count, a readability index ranging from easy to hard. That little function comes in handy, because you definitely want the text of your page to be easy for the viewer to read.

The next and perhaps most important feature, shows you the occurrences and frequency at which the top keywords for your page show up. It ranks them from the number one word to whichever number you would like it to stop at. That is set at the options you chose before you analyzed the text. This particular feature is very nice to SEO’s, seeing as that it lists the top words on a site and the density/frequency of which they appear. So an example of how this might help would be if you were targeting to have a certain keyword density for a particular keyword on your site. Thus enabling you to figure out whether to add more or less of that word to meet the density at which is required for the search engines to list you for that keyword.

Not only does this tell you your top ranking keywords it tell you the top word phrases, ranging from 2 word to 5 word phrases. It gives the count of how many times that phrase was used and also shows the frequency compared to the rest of the text on the page.

Anyone who is in the internet marketing field especially marketers who optimize their websites for search engine traffic can make great use of this free tool. I personally find great use in this tool for the process of my keyword research, which is essential for any search engine optimization campaign.

CPA is an acronym or short for Cost Per Action or Cost Per Acquisition. The term CPA is not new. If you browse through the Search Engines using the keyword phrase "cost per action" or "cost per acquisition" you will find numerous websites with CPA related articles dating from 2001 - over 5 years ago.

In a nutshell, CPA is a performance based online advertising payment system in which payment is based solely on qualifying actions such as a lead, a sale or registration. In other words, merchants/advertisers determine what actions they want to reward and how much they are willing to pay for those actions.

Lead, Conversion or Registration

The actions defined in a CPA or Cost Per Action agreement relate directly to some type of conversion, with leads, sales and registrations among the most common and does not include deals based solely on clicks such as AdSense, which are referred to specifically as cost-per-click or CPC.

The definition of a Lead, Conversion or Registration can vary from one CPA Affiliate Network to another.

A lead or conversion may simply be considered to be no more than a website visitor providing his/her name and eMail address.

In another example, to be considered a lead or conversion, a website visitor may need to complete and submit a 1 page or 2 page application form. In this example, the product in question may be a home loan or payday loan. But it does not matter to the publisher whether the applicant gets the loan or not or has to wait 30 days before they get an answer from the lender. Once the visitor has completed the desired or contractual action, the publisher has earned a commission.

In another example, a lead or conversion may simply be achieved by a website visitor completing a small website form and paying a small $postage fee via a credit card for the advertised product to be sent to their mailing address.

What all this means is that publishers i.e. website owners, get paid not on how many times an ad is seen or even on how many times it's clicked, but according to how many people click on it and take the action specified by the advertiser on his/her site.

Comparison of CPA Affiliate Programs with Cost Per Click or Cost Per Sale Website Monetization Models

CPA Affiliate Programs are very similar to other popular website monetization models whereby a publisher takes advantage of the arbitrage opportunities between low cost traffic and high paying contextual ads or products paying high affiliate commissions.

In one Scenario low cost pay-per-click or other traffic is driven to a website or landing page displaying high paying contextual ads. When someone clicks on the low cost pay-per-click ad, they then get referred to the website or landing page. If that same someone then clicks on a high paying contextual ad, the publisher earns a commission.

In another Scenario low cost pay-per-click or other traffic is driven to a website advertising high paying affiliate products or directly to the advertiser's own website. When someone clicks on the low cost ad, they then get referred to the Product page(s). If that same someone then orders and pays for a product the publisher will have earned an affiliate commission.

The subtle difference between the first scenario and the second scenario is that in scenario 1 the publisher gets paid with a % of the value of the click regardless of whether the visitor purchased the end product or not. In scenario 2 the publisher only gets paid if the click resulted in a Sale. In CPA (Cost-Per-Action) Affiliate Programs the publisher gets paid if the click resulted in a lead.

CPA Affiliate Network

Before you can engage in a CPA Affiliate Program you will need to apply for affiliate membership in one or more of the 50+ CPA Affiliated Network Companies. All applications are stringently reviewed before they are approved.

Once your application is approved there are essentially 7 simple steps to start generating profits:

1. Find the ultimate high paying, high quality CPA Campaigns to advertise;

2. Identify appropriate Keywords;

3. Register your Domain, prepare and upload your Landing Page;

4. Set up super Low Cost P-P-C Advertising Test campaigns;

5. Monitor and Identify Profitable Test campaigns;

6. Turn Profitable Test Campaigns into fully-fledged Campaigns;

7. Rinse and Repeat;

CPA Affiliate Programs can work well with any type of advertising or traffic generation but are especially extremely profitable when undertaken with a pay-per-click advertising program.

Caution - CPA Affiliate Programs are very profitable and are currently fashionable. All Internet marketers should start looking at CPA Affiliate Programs but before they engage in this activity they should make sure that they have read and fully understand pay-per-click advertising.

If you have just set up a website one of the first questions you will ask is “how do I get traffic to my site?”. There are a number of methods of accomplishing this. If you are knowledgeable about search engine optimization (SEO) you can optimize your webpages for certain keywords and get lots of links to your site. Then all you have to do is wait (for months/years!) and you will receive free traffic. You can also try things like posting in forums with a signature, advertising on free classifieds sites and writing articles to submit to directories. All of these methods can generate free traffic, some more than others.

However, if you don't want to wait and need large amounts of traffic, you can buy it. This means submitting ads to search engines such as Google (the biggest search engine in terms of traffic), ads that link to your website. Your ads only show up when people type in the search phrases that you have selected into Google. You pay Google each time someone clicks on your ad. Google's paid search advertising program is called Adwords. From this short description the main pros and cons of Adwords are apparent:

Pros:

1. Immediate traffic: You can start getting visitors to your site within minutes.

2. Lots of traffic: You can send thousands of people per day to your site with Adwords.

3. Targeted traffic: You select exactly which keyword phrases will trigger your ads, therefore you only show your ads to qualified visitors. Thus the people coming to your site are looking for exactly what you have to offer.

4. Geographical targeting: You can choose to show your ads only in specific countries, states or towns.

There are also some less apparent benefits of using Adwords to drive traffic:

1. Flexibility: If you have SEOed a webpage for certain keywords its not so simply to change. With Adwords you can change keywords, ads and landing pages instantly.

2. Optimization: Adwords makes it easy to split test ads, monitor campaign and individual keyword performance, and make unlimited instant adjustments to all parameters.

3. Fine tuning: Its easy to do things like send people to different webpages based on their search phrase, make separate bids for every keyword phrase, exclude specific words from search phrases and choose exactly when you want your ads to be showing.

These pros combined together give the major benefit of adwords: Profitability - Its possible to make a 100% (or more) return on your Adwords spend.

Cons:

1. Cost: Adwords isn't free. I spend hundreds of thousands of dollars a year on Adwords.

2. Complexity: The features that make it powerful and useful also mean that it takes a while to learn to use effectively.

These 2 cons combined mean that you have to be careful using Adwords. Many people have lost hundreds or even thousands of dollars using adwords without a proper understanding.

There are other problems with Adwords such as being at the mercy of instant rule changes by the search engines and competition from other advertisers, but these disadvantages are shared with SEO, the most effective source of free traffic.

In summary Adwords is a very effective tool for driving traffic to your website provided you have the time and motivation to learn its complexities.

1.Join an Affiliate Program: Join programs that interest you personally. There are affiliate programs for almost any product or service you can think of so do some research and find one that is right for you. If you have a passion for your product niche it will be a whole lot easier to stay motivated.

2.Build your own website to promote your product: You will need to build a website with your own domain name (ie. yourname.com) and pay a monthly fee for hosting as opposed to going the free route and sharing a domain (ie. freespace.yourdomain.com) If you don't know much about web design that's quite ok. You will find there are lots of companies out there who offer very affordable website design.

3.Start a reciprocal linking campaign: Start exchanging links with other websites in your niche. You will find lots of webmasters willing to add a link to your website as long as you return the favor. The more websites that link to you, the higher page rank you will have in the search engines, therefore leading to more traffic to your website.

4.Start your own newsletter: The newsletter can simply consist of articles related to your products and website. Always add a signature containing a link to your website at the bottom of each newsletter entry. That way when people read your articles they can continue on to your website. If you don't want to write your own articles, there are many websites that will let you use theirs for free.

5.Build an Email List: Owning your own email list is one of the most important tools you can have as an affiliate marketer. The best way to build a list is to buy leads, that way you don't have to worry about getting in trouble for spamming. Lots of companies sell quality leads (email addresses) consisting of people who want more information about your products. With every lead you buy you can in turn sign them up for your newsletter.

6.Get an Auto Responder: With an auto responder program you can make the process of buying leads and adding them to your newsletter completely automated. You can save hours of time with this approach.

7.Write your own Articles: To be successful with affiliate marketing you will eventually have to write an article or two. This may sound a bit overwhelming in the beginning, but after you have been building your business for awhile you will get into it. Always include a signature at the bottom of the article containing your website link. Then post your article on as many websites as you can. Lots of sites let you post for free.

8.Add an Article page to your website: Post all of your articles on this page and any others you find related to your niche. Having an article page will add content to your website and will help with your page rank since search engines love websites with lots of relevant content.

9.Join an Online Forum: Becoming a member in a forum is a great way to stay current with the products in your niche. Talking with fellow entrepreneurs will keep you motivated and help generate new ideas as well as answer any questions you may have.

Google AdWords ads connect you with new customers at the precise moment when they're looking for your products or services. According to Google, the Google Network reaches more than 80% of Internet users.

With Google AdWords you create your own ads, choose keywords to help match your ads to your target audience and pay only when someone clicks on them… this is what is referred to as “pay-per-click” advertising.

Google AdWords is a perfect way to advertise, if done correctly. Many companies waste hundreds or thousands of dollars every month on “unwanted clicks” that are not truly generating “targeted clicks” for their business.

If setup correctly, Google AdWords can be a great resource to reach hundreds or possibly thousands of users looking for your exact product or service, which will lead to increased sales. The key word here is “exact”. I have found that through my experience of setting up Google AdWords campaigns for my clients, the best successes have been generated by the campaigns that use very specific keywords rather than generic or broad keywords when describing a product or service.

Also, it is very important to analyze if your product is local, national or global. Google AdWords allow you to only have your ads displayed for your selected areas. You can specify a single state, and entire country, multiple countries, or the entire Internet world; it’s completely up to you.

Let’s take an example to help paint the picture of what not to do. Say you were a real estate agent that sold commercial real estate only in New Jersey. If you purchased keywords like “real estate” and had them displayed throughout the US, then those would lead to what I refer to as “unwanted clicks”, causing you to pay for unnecessary visits to your site.

What should be done is this; first, the keyword “real estate” is too generic and does not specifically describe your service of selling “commercial” real estate. Secondly, you should only have your ads displayed for New Jersey Internet users only since this is the only state in which you sell commercial real estate. A much better version of this would be to purchase a keyword like “commercial real estate” and setup your ads to only display in New Jersey, hence leading to targeted clicks.

Does this make sense? The overall goal of Google AdWords is to direct “targeted clicks” to your website and that is how you should look at it 100% of the time. The goal should not be to acquire as many visits to your site as possible but instead, to acquire the best quality of targeted clicks. As I stated before, Google AdWords is pay-per-click advertising so you should only focus on having keywords that will direct “targeted clicks” to your site, this way you pay for these clicks and not the “unwanted clicks”.

If done incorrectly, Google AdWords can cause you to unnecessarily spend precious marketing dollars. But if done correctly, Google AdWords can allow you to open your doors to a whole new means of selling your products and services online.

Google AdWords is a must have in your arsenal of advertising campaigns. So be sure to focus on your product and service and fully analyze what your target audience will be searching for on the Internet. This is what should be your list of keywords…. It’s that simple!

I wish you all the best of luck advertising your products and services.

In the past year, Google Adsense has become the “It” way to make money on the Internet.

But even if you already use Google Adsense on your site, you are probably leaving money on the table. Let me explain why…

Most people create a site, slap some content and then wait for people to click on their ads.

But once people click on an ad, they are gone….probably forever!

One method that smart Internet marketers use to maximize their Google Adsense is to harness the power of their email list. By getting people to subscribe to their list, website owners can continue to make money from their readers.

By utilizing the power of their email list, website owners can dramatically increase their Adsense income.

Here is how you can do the same. In the following article, there is a step-by-step list of how you can harness the power of your list to create a steady stream of Adsense revenue.

The first step is to create a topic that is in high demand. A good topic would be something that people have an interest in, or information that can help your readers personally or financially.

Your next action would be to create content for your site. The idea is to write or use information that would provide value to the reader. All your articles should help improve their life in some manner. You can create content for your site in a large numbers of ways. This can include:

· Your own web articles
· Guides, product evaluations, and “How To's”
· Blogs and RSS Feeds
· Public domain works
· Private label rights
· Hiring a freelancer to write your content

Obviously creating content for your site is an ongoing process, so once you've created at least 10 pages of quality information for your readers, you should create your web pages and optimize them for Google Adsense.

As you are designing your pages for Adsense, you should keep one thing in mind- Your primary goal is to get people to click on your Adsense ads.

So don't give your readers too many options. As a result, it is important to keep your web page simple. To do this, you should include do the following:

· Place the article on the web page
· Ad all three Adsense blocks in prominent places
· Make sure that the ad blocks look like standard text, with the no borders and blue links
· If you have to have other links on this page, include them at the bottom where there is a less chance of being clicked on

After designing your web pages, you need to create an autoresponder sequence for your email list. The primary focus for each email is to get people to click on your Google Adsense pages. So it is important to create and intriguing title. Then in the email, write a little bit about the importance of the article and tell your subscribers how they can learn more by clicking over to the site.

Once you've created your sequence of bringing readers to your Adsense pages, you should start promoting your lists. You can do this by articles, PPC, ebooks, viral marketing and SEO. The more people usually means more money, so you have to continuously work at marketing your website.

Once you have finished creating your Adsense and email system, you should go back and continue to add more content and market your site. By having a large selection of information and more readers, you'll discover that your Google Adsense income will grow exponentially.

Affiliate marketing has become one of the most popular methods to make money on the internet. There is thousands of affiliate marketing companies to choose from, which gives you the ability to become an affiliate for a company based around your website. Another advantage to affiliate marketing is the ability to be an affiliate for a number of companies, not just one. So how do you go about selecting a successful affiliate marketing company?

It is wise to select an affiliate marketing company that has to do with your website. Odds are your website is something that interests you, so make sure you select a program that is of interest to you. This will make it much easier to promote and sell something if you have an interest in it.

After you know what type of affiliate marketing company you want to target and promote, you need to research A LOT about the various programs out there. Dig deep and find out what makes one program better than the others. To start you should look at the surface of the company. Ask yourself if it looks professional and if you would buy from them yourself. Does the company know the product and promote it strongly themselves? These are all signs of a successful company from the surface.

Everyone is in affiliate marketing to make money. So the next step is to find the programs that pay out the best and offer the most residual income. It is recommended that you look for a program that pays out no less than 40% of your sales. There are thousands of programs to choose from, so make sure your efforts are being rewarded with a high pay out.

Once you know how much you can make from a specific affiliate marketing company, look into whether or not the company provides you with tools and resources to promote the product. The only way you can be successful in affiliate marketing is if you sell the product, which makes it all the more crucial to have tools to promote the product.

Lastly, it is vital that the affiliate marketing company you select has a place to check your stats. Not only do you need to be able to check your stats, but you need to be able to check them 24 hours a day. After all, the internet never sleeps so why should the stat checking system sleep. If you don’t know how you’re doing, how are you going to be able to stay motivated?

Selecting the perfect affiliate marketing company for you can be difficult since there are so many choices. However, if you put in the effort to research and learn a little bit about some of the options, you should have no problem selecting a winner. Just remember, there is nothing saying you can’t be involved with multiple affiliate marketing programs at once.

An internet newsletter is the equivalent of a brochure or an offline informative newsletter - it needs to capture attention, deliver high quality information and content and convince readers that your company is worth remembering. With Internet newsletters, however, there is an additional issue. Unlike a printed brochure, which everyone sees the same, Internet newsletters are displayed on different browsers and screen resolutions. This may affect the way the newsletter looks or the way the layout is seen on different computers. Another test you should do with your newsletter concerns the way the message arrives at your target audience. Let's have a look at both test types that you should do before you submit your newsletter to your subscribers.

Technical Tests

There are many browsers that interpret web pages slightly differently. Many websites that look great on Netscape are displayed all wrong on Internet Explorer, and viceversa. This calls for your attention as you cannot afford to release the newsletter and have it display poorly on certain web browsers. Before sending it out try to proof it in several browsers and on different computers with different resolutions. This may be a hard thing to do if you don't have a larger office with several computers, but you can always ask a few friends to check it out and let you know if it looks ok on their screens. However, a basic test you can do even on one computer is to download different browsers and try them with your newsletter. You might also want to change the screen resolution from your current one to lower and higher ones as part of the test. The standard computer operates in SVGA true color, but you should also see other configurations.

Testing the way the message reaches your audience

This is mostly a test that resembles a focus group or a survey. Send the newsletter to a few people and ask them about it once they have read it. Did your message go through without any obstacles? Did they find the graphic layout attractive? What did they think about the photos you used in your newsletter? How did they respond to the call to action at the end of the newsletter? Were they tempted to find out more by visiting your website? Once you get answers to these questions you can easily see whether your newsletter is working properly. The message is essential and there is no point in going through all the trouble to publish the Internet newsletter unless you get the readers to visit your website and to trust your company.

Putting it all together

All of the things mentioned above sound like a lot of stuff to do for a simple newsletter. However, keep in mind that once you get the pattern right and once the first issue of the newsletter starts having success you will never have to repeat 90% of that work. It might still be a good idea to test your Internet newsletter in different browsers if you have made changes to the graphic design or layout. It would also be advisable to have at least one more person read each issue of the newsletter before sending it out, to see if you might have passed some errors.

Testing your newsletter is essential. Both the technical details of the newsletter and the expected response from the readers have to be tested thoroughly in order to ensure its success.

Google AdWords Strategies & Tips contains the techniques, information and secrets for building a highly-effective campaign that minimizes your costs. Increase your click through rates (CTR), keep your costs reasonable and outsmart your competitors by taking advantage of the tips and strategies that we have learned by running AdWords campaigns for many of our clients.

A cost effective way to advertise has great flexibility on the part of the advertiser, he/she can make it running in minutes and can change ads whenever feels doing it after tracking the response of the visitors and the conversion rate. However testing keywords and ads to improve the conversion rate is a never ending process and one has to be very selective and alert in choosing the right ‘keywords’. You can be running an ad campaign at Google in minutes! Well to make your ad word campaign successful and worth spending I present some keen facts and suggestions to be considered while developing ad word advertisements.

You should be very specific while choosing your keywords in the ads because being general in advertisements will bring traffic to your site but not many actual buyers in other words the conversion rate will be very less or your return on investment will be less.

Target the right audience by selecting the language and countries that you want to target. For example, I exclude all countries where English is not understood by a large percentage of the population.

Always link to correct pages for example if you are advertising a particular product then link to the page in particular that is selling that product and not to the site’s homepage. User will never like much browsing and will ultimately leave for your competitor if isn’t able to find the desired information. So link to particular pages.

Track The Return-On-Investment Of Each Ad oogle tracks the click through ratio of each ad. But it doesn't track the conversion ratio.

Use a special tracking link in each ad to track its conversion ratio. For example, you could attach each ad with an affiliate tracking system link. Make sure each ad produces a return-on-investment.
Offer the benefits that your product will give the consumer because many times users are looking for those benefits and will be induced to your site. For example learn free, earn at home, become an expert, lose weight etc. Try to include such benefits in the ads and see the results soar.

Include Targeted Keywords In Your Ad Include the targeted keywords in the headline and the description of the ad. Google will highlight searched keywords in bold in the ad.

Record the return on investment of each ad to keep your expenses in your pre decided budget and update or change low ROT ads simultaneously. ROI is the base for which you are planning ads and it should not be under looked. Google offers the stats free for the ad words, hence you can use it and calculate the ROI and act accordingly.

Google Strategies:

Significantly improve the position of ads in your Google AdWords Select campaign

Pay less by finding clever, inexpensive new keywords to use

Save hundreds (or even thousands) of dollars on your overall AdWords campaigns

Maximize your CTR Click Through Rate for your AdWords Select campaign

Ensure that you don't get penalized by Google for ineffective, poorly-performing initial ads (this could affect
your ranking for future AdWords placements for months or even years!)

Calculate the ROI for your campaign (using the included Microsoft Excel ROI calculator spreadsheet)

Determine what your optimal daily spend should be for your campaign

Optimize your keyword selection through a variety of techniques

Remove common words, such as "a, an, in, on, it, of, etc." Remove every word that does not absolutely need to be in the ad.

Make every word count

Remember that advertising is a never-ending series of tests. Always track your ads. Never stop testing different keywords and ads to improve your conversion ratio and lower your customer acquisition cost.

Online auctions continue to grow in popularity as an easy and efficient way to make money on everything from unwanted household items to rare and expensive collectables and even to bulky items like cars.

Log on to eBay and you will see countless auctions on any item you can imagine. As eBay auctions grow in popularity, it becomes harder to make money with your auction because it often gets buried or overlooked with all the competing auctions in the same category. Therefore, to make money on your auction, it is important to set your auction apart and avoid common eBay auction mistakes. Here are 3 important areas that you must take note of:

1. Wrong product category or product category not specific enough. Not doing enough research. As it is relatively simple and inexpensive to auction an item, many sellers simply do not put in enough effort researching the market. The result is that the auctions are put up in the wrong category. This would be tantamount to pitching your deal to the wrong market.

However, if you are marketing your product in traditional channels and paying money for your promotions, you are likely to do a lot more research and legwork. If you want to earn a serious income, then you should not treat your eBay auctions any differently.

To research, find the best eBay category to put your product auction in. If you are selling coins, eBay shoppers do not have the time to search all 38,000 plus auctions put up under the category of coins. You need to define your product category as specific as possible. You will then target the true eBay shoppers that are likely to be interested in your auction.

2. A blurred or ugly looking image. Be sure your eBay auction has a clear professional looking image. Pay heed to the saying “A picture speaks a thousand words”. Also, don’t forget to ensure that your image file size is not too large. If the image takes minutes to download, the typical eBay shopper is bound to skip your auction.

3. Incomplete and unclear product description. Be sure to give a detailed and precise description for your eBay auction item. For instance, you can give exact dimensions of the product or give specific details about the condition of the second hand item. An incomplete or unclear description is not likely to attract bidders for your item.

All in all, the best exercise I can suggest is to visit your Ebay auction and honestly ask yourself if you would be even tempted to put in a bid for this product.

If the answer is no or even probably not, then change it. If you are passionate about your auction and take the time to make it professional, your auction is likely to stand out. Make the effort to do it right and you are likely to have successful auctions.

You've heard the stories. Click fraud has run rampant on Google, Yahoo, and MSN. This is evidenced by the numerous law suits that have been filed. One of the most notable cases occurred this year when Google settled their own click fraud case to the tune of 90 million dollars. In fact, Google and Yahoo have each settled a class action lawsuit filed by marketers. Click Fraud - What It Is So, what is click fraud and how does it occur? Wikipedia provides us with a definition: "Click fraud occurs in pay per click online advertising when a person, automated script, or computer program imitates a legitimate user of a web browser clicking on an ad, for the purpose of generating an improper charge per click. Click fraud is the subject of some controversy and increasing litigation due to the advertising networks being a key beneficiary of the fraud whether they like it or not." However, I would like to simplify this definition. Click fraud is a crime, plain and simple. Cybercrime, however, is hard to track. Law enforcement has only just recently started focusing on the threat of click fraud. Click fraud is now being targeted by some of the industry's biggest names. This movement has both the American court and government system involved. Business Week recently announced that major brands including Expedia.com and mortgage broker LendingTree.com planned to go public with their disputes over click fraud in late September. Who can blame them? When it's your money that's going out the door, you need to be asking questions. Unfortunately, Google and Yahoo haven't come up with many answers. They have certainly paid lip service, indicating that they have systems in place to deter it, but the click fraud numbers continue to rise. The Threat to a Popular Advertising Model The Interactive Advertising Bureau estimates that 20 to 35 percent of ad clicks are fraudulent. The multi-billion dollar search industry is under attack and the problem is not going away anytime soon. Advertisers are being cheated and the search engines appear to be sitting on the sidelines, leaving much of the responsibility for detecting click fraud with advertisers, the majority of whom lack the tools and knowledge to detect it. The high level of click fraud has undermined advertisers' confidence and some have even pulled their entire ad campaigns. For small to medium-sized businesses click fraud effectively erodes ROI, impacting the bottom line and future marketing initiatives. Click fraud is also the single biggest threat to companies like Google and Yahoo, whose digital empires are largely dependent on their advertising revenues. Google's $6 billion-a-year advertising business is especially at risk. Despite the threat, or maybe because of it, Google is saying little about click fraud and the pay-per-click concept as a whole. While Google maintains its silence, many advertisers and savvy online entrepreneurs wonder where pay-per-click is headed. Click fraud threatens to destroy the very business that Google thrives on. In fact, click fraud losses have surpassed the total loss attributed to credit card fraud in the U.S. Do the current click fraud problems have the power to slow the growth of pay-per-click search advertising or even bring it to a screeching halt? Well, that's hard to say, but the industry as a whole is certainly being crippled by this problem. Pay-per-click may not be the future. Many advertisers are now starting to look at advertising options that offer an uncorrupted alternative. Flat-fee advertising, pay-per-percentage, and pay-per-action are all possibilities, but there is one alternative in particular that deserves attention. This search engine advertising model was first put forward by ExactSeek.com and then promoted through the ISEDN (Independent Search Engine & Directory Network) which ExactSeek founded in June, 2005. The model promulgated by ExactSeek and the ISEDN does not eliminate click fraud but does eliminate the cost associated with it. How the ISEDN Model Works The ISEDN charges a flat fee for advertising, making click fraud a pointless endeavor for scam artists, "paid to read" rings and cutthroat competitors. Your competition could click on your ISEDN listings all day long and it wouldn't cost you a single penny more than what you originally paid. $3-$4 provides you with an entire month's worth of advertising across a network of 235+ search engines and web directories. If you choose to buy in volume, you can even expect some significant discounts. Let's face it, pay-per-click advertising is expensive. There are a number of companies who spend $5,000 to $10,000 per month on paid search marketing. Competition is fierce with many keywords costing $5 per click or more. The problem is then compounded when you consider that 20 to 35 percent of those advertising dollars are wasted on fraudulent clicks. Just imagine. If you are paying $1,000 dollars per month to advertise on Google, $200 - $350 of those dollars are wasted on click fraud. If you want to lower your click fraud costs, you need to buy click fraud monitoring software, which is quite pricey. Unfortunately, few click fraud monitoring companies target small to medium sized businesses. The ISEDN offers an affordable alternative that charges a one-time, flat fee. The initial cost is the only cost. Within this unique advertising model, the sale of any keyword or phrase is limited to 30 advertisers. Regardless of whether a keyword term is sold 5 or 30 times, ads rotate within the SERPs and throughout the ISEDN. The rotation ensures that every ad appears in the top 10 search results. In the worst case scenario, a listing would appear on the first page of results approximately once out of every 3 searches. Of course, you can't expect the same exposure provided by Google or Overture. Google alone receives millions of searches per day. However, if you are looking for a consistent return on your investment without wasting a penny on click fraud, then the ISEDN provides an affordable and lucrative solution. Not to mention, the ISEDN is growing every day. An average of 3- 5 search engines are added every week. As the network continues to grow, your ad automatically receives more exposure. This program gives advertisers the benefit of advertising with smaller search engines on a massive scale without the fear of click fraud and without the hassle of managing multiple advertising accounts. For more information on the ISEDN, visit Exactseek.com or ISEDN.org Summing It Up The rules in search engine advertising are shifting and the winners are adapting. As for Google, Yahoo, and MSN, you can definitely expect to see some changes being made with their paid search programs in the near future. Cybercrime is still a crime and law enforcers are finally starting to take these problems seriously. The pay-per-click model is inherently flawed and must be altered to survive. Google and the other major search engines know that their business will be crippled if they do not adapt. The challenge for them is how to adapt and still maintain those multi-billion dollar bottom lines. Fortunately, there are individuals, groups, companies and organizations more interested in finding and providing solutions to the problem of click fraud than in propping up a flawed concept. Those leading the fight against click-fraud, like the ISEDN, may never see 10 figure bottom lines like Yahoo or Google, but the revenue they do make won't be based on fraudulent clicks and at your expense.
